Epimenio Velarde

Epimenio J. Velarde, 87, a resident of Santo Niño, passed away peacefully following a brief illness, on Friday, April 15, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Lorencita Velarde; wife, Beverly Velarde; brother, Ben Velarde; sisters, Roselia Velarde, Carlota Velarde-Martinez, and Dometilia Ortiz; grandson, Leon Fernandez; brothers in law, Pat Martinez, and Diego Ortiz and Sister in law, Dolores Velarde. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Mr. Velarde is survived by his son, Greg Velarde; daughter, Veronica Fernandez and husband Eric; grandchildren, Vanessa Jehna, Gregory, Alex and Samantha Velarde, Nicko and LeeAnn Fernandez; brothers, Thomas Velarde and Manuel Velarde Jr. and wife Sharon; sisters, Frances Fresquez, Consuelo Martinez, and Sennie Kaufmin and husband Fritz; great-grandchildren, Cassandra, Savanah, Ramon Jr., Beverly, Rianna, Keanna, and Anika Fernandez, plus numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Public visitation will begin on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Canada, with a burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
