Enrique Salazar

Enrique was born on December 9, 2004, in Los Alamos, New Mexico to James (Brandon) and Anjela. He graduated from Pojoaque Valley High School in May of 2023. Eager to start living his life, he was about to start following in his dad’s footsteps and was set to begin his career with Rio Arriba County as a Heavy Equipment Operator. Enrique is known as Cowboy Enrique, always in cowboy jeans, boots, spurs, and a cowboy hat, a bodyguard and protector. Underneath that cowboy hat was a large smile, a contagious laugh, and a heart larger than life itself that would leave a forever mark on every life he touched. Enrique loved his family and friends and had a passion for the outdoors, riding his horse, working on the ranch, hauling wood, fishing and much more. He was a true cowboy and a one-of-a-kind young man that anyone was blessed to know.

Enrique is preceded in death by paternal great grandparents Jose and Mary Salazar, Avenicio and Adelina Maestas, maternal great grandparents Canuto and Dolores Romero, and Arsenio J. Brito. He is survived by his father James Brandon Salazar (Andrea); his mother Anjela Martinez (James Jr.);  siblings Jerome Salazar, Aliyah Salazar, Joseph Salazar, Jeremy Salazar, and James (Santiago) Martinez III; paternal grandparents James Salazar, Becky Arellano; maternal grandparents Deacon Jerome and Connie Romero; step-grandparents James and Betty Martinez Sr., Brenda Valdez; great grandmother Dora Brito; paternal uncles Jerry Salazar, Daniel Salazar; paternal aunt Brandee Arellano; maternal uncle Roberto Brito and many great uncles, great aunts and cousins.

A public visitation will begin on Thursday November 9, 2023, at 5:00 pm and Rosary at 6:00 pm in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of Devargas Funeral Home & Crematory, Mass of Christian burial will be on Friday November 10, 2023, at 11:00 am at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Velarde and burial to follow at the Velarde Catholic Cemetery in Velarde.
