Emmy Age - 66 Los Alamos Hopson

Emmy Hopson – Age 66, died on December 3, 2010, after a long, graceful and courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Bellingham, Washington on August 19, 1944, and was a resident of Los Alamos for 42 years. She is survived by her husband, John, brother, Larry Sutherland, and a loving extended family of three sons: Matthew Huddleston, Michael Hopson and Gabriel Hopson, stepdaughter, Wendy Harmsworth, stepson, Tom Hopson, and four grandchildren. Emmy was employed by Los Alamos National Laboratory for many years as a computer and communications technician, and cared deeply about her job, her co-workers and the services she provided to the LANL staff. She was always active in many crafts including weaving, quilting, knitting and basket making. She was a hard working member of the Los Alamos Master Gardeners. She loved the New Mexico and Colorado outdoors and greatly enjoyed hiking, biking, camping and skiing. She was an enthusiastic traveler to Europe, Chile and India. Her greatest joy was other people: her family, relatives and many friends, including those she came to know from shared experience with cancer. Each of them had a special place in her heart, and she deeply loved the time and activities shared with them. There will be an open house memorial for Emmy on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at her home on 1940 Camino Mora, Los Alamos from the hours of 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Her family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Los Alamos Visiting Nurse Services, Inc. at P.O.
