Emily S. Martinez, 66, a resident of Cordova, passed away Thursday, June 22, 2018 with her family by her side. Emily was preceded in death by her parents, Fidel and Elisea Sandoval of Cordova; siblings, Maryanne Lopez and Jake Sandoval; in-laws, Juan Pedro and Refugio Martinez of Ojo Sarco; sister-in-law, Hazel Martinez and other nieces and nephews. Emily was a loving person who enjoyed working with her husband doing ranch work. Emily retired from PTLA after 28 years of service. Mrs. Martinez is survived by her husband of 47 years, Benito Martinez Sr.; children, Ardy Sanchez (Jessie), Benito Martinez Jr. and Adam Martinez (Vanessa); grandchildren, Lexi Sanchez and Lucas Martinez; great-grandchildren, Huntar, Gunner, Dallas and Kendall Martinez all of Cordova; siblings, Ben Sandoval (Crissy), Carmelita Archuleta (Michael), Sandra Valdez (George) and Marissa Sandoval (Justin); brothers-in-law, Adelmo Lopez, Jim Brito (Lilian), Feliberto Martinez (Marie), Pedro Martinez (Dorothy), Damian Martinez (Angela) and Lorenzo Martinez; sisters-in-law, Mary Sandoval, Evelyn Garcia (Fernando), Erlinda Torrez (Gilberto), Marina Montoya (David), Alice Vasquez (Florentino), Olivia Gonzales (Leroy), Angie Urioste (Pilar) and Mercy Martinez; God-daughter who she helped raise, Julissa Romero; special niece and nephew, Melissa Sandoval and Nicholas Romero and many other relatives. A rosary will be recited on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. also at Holy Family Catholic Church with burial to take place at the San Antonio Cemetery in Cordova. Serving the family as pallbearers will be, Benito Martinez Jr., Adam Martinez, Jessie Sanchez, James Sanchez, Nicholas Romero and Justin Lopez. Honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and God-daughter, Julissa Romero. The family of Emily S. Martinez has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
