EMILIO (JOE) MARTINEZ, JR., 79, a resident of El Rancho, passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2016 following a lengthy illness. His wife, Belle, was always by his side. Joe was a United States Army Veteran who proudly served his country. He was employed at Nambe Mills until his retirement in 1999. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Emilio and Teodora Martinez; sisters, Clora and Rebecca; grandparents, Tomas and Lugardita Martinez and Pablo and Getrudes Trujillo; in-laws, Tobias and Rosalina Gomez, Toby, Eddie and Tony Gomez, Velma Gomez and Delores Cutler; and niece, Wilma Cutler Bramlet. Mr. Martinez is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Elizabelle (Belle); sisters-in-law, Loyola Gomez, Lorraine Jimenez (Frank), Mary Lou and Frances Gomez; brother-in-law, Louie Cutler; brothers, Sy (Jean), Tomas (Miei), Jake (Naidene), Rick (Joann); sisters, Sofie Gurule (Carlos), Trudy Duran, Norma Herrera (Art) and Corinne Russo (Joey); God-children, Alan Martinez, Joey Gurule, Dorene Bohannon, Patty Deaton, Joey Russo, Sandra Mendoza; special nephew Brian Baca (Tracy) and niece Tanya Valdez and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Joe will also be missed by his 4 legged friend, Janie. Thanks to Pastor Ernest Brown and Pastor Danny Espinosa for their visits. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at 10:00a.m. in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with graveside services to follow at 12:45p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
