Emilio Martinez, 80, a resident of Hernandez passed away on Sunday August 8, 2010 in Santa Fe, New Mexico surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eulalia Martinez; his beloved son, Emilio Martinez Jr.; sister Betty Salazar; parents, Eugenio and Amalia Martinez. He is survived by his daughters: Dolores Martinez and husband Mike Nakano of California, Elizabeth Martinez of Santa Fe, Monica Fresquez and husband Marshall of San Pedro and Celina Garcia and husband Richard of Ojo Caliente; grandchildren: Daniella Rodarte, David Casias, Daniel Martinez, Roland Martinez, Estrella Fresquez, Jesse James Fresquez, Andre Nakano and Lucas Garcia; brothers & sisters: Joe Martinez, Margarito Martinez, Candie Crow, Elvie Trujillo, Tonie Trujillo and Lucille Fila all of Nevada, Anna Marie Casey of Michigan and Ymelda Sasseen of California; companion of eight years, Sarah Martinez of La Villita, New Mexico; and many other relatives and friends. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 through 1953; then as a security officer with Los Alamos National Laboratory until his retirement. He was a penitente of La Morada de San Pedro de Chamita. A Rosary will be recited on Thursday, August 12, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 13, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. at St John the Baptist Church in Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo formally known as San Juan Pueblo. Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers Larry Romero, Freddie Sanchez, Daniella Rodarte, Daniel Martinez, Roland Martinez, Estrella Fresquez, Jesse James Fresquez, Andre Nakano and Lucas Garcia. Honorary pallbearers will be: David Casias, Mike Nakano, Marshall Fresquez and Richard Garcia.
