Emilia Borrego

Emilia “Emma” Borreg0, 102, a resident of Santa Cruz, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 23, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Borrego in 2003 and her first husband Augustine Cisneros in 1963; parents Cesario and Manuela Maldonado; brothers Luis, Eutimio, Hilario, Porfirio, Manuel, Guillermo and Leopoldo Maldonado; sisters Petra Muñoz, Pasquala Chacon and Avelina Polanco.  She is survived by one sister Florencia Maldonado of Silver City; sisters-in-law Juanita Maldonado of Silver City, Lourdes Fresquez, Susie Borrego, and brother-in-law, Leroy Borrego and wife Ceria all of Santa Cruz; niece who took care of her for many years, Maria Lovato of San Juan Pueblo. Emma had numerous nieces, nephews and friends whom she loved dearly.  Public Visitation will begin on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 3, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Canada, with a burial to follow at 2:15 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers are Joseph Lovato, Del Lovato, Joshua Lovato, Santiago Lovato, Michael Borrego, and Jonathan Lopez.
