Elviria (Abie) Martinez, 91, of Embudo, born to Abenicio and Eloisa Martinez on December 29, 1923, went to Our Lord on April 3, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, George and Adonise Martinez, and sisters, Tonie Martinez and Flora Romero; grandpas, Pedro Montoya and Alejandro Martinez; grandmas, Concepcion Montoya and Antonia Martinez; aunts, Candy Lopez and Claudinita Montoya and other relatives. She is survived by her brother, William and wife Pana Martinez of Embudo; sisters, Hattie Martinez of Embudo, Loyola Booco and husband Mike, Maggie Romero and husband Silver, Rosie Booco and their families of Denver, CO., and brother-in-law Daniel Romero of Embudo, and five beautiful nieces that she loved as if they were her own daughters; Virginia Duran and son Reyes of Los Alamos, and his father Lonnie Duran of Dixon, Patsy Olivas and husband Mark and family Joe, Marcos, and Elise of Embudo, Lilly Griego and husband Jeff and family Marisha and Josh of Dixon, Claudine Martinez and companion Ben Martinez of Espanola, and Sandy Romero and companion George Atencio of Los Luceros, and many other nieces and nephews. Public visitation will begin on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Dixon. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. also at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Burial to follow at Father Kupper Cemetery in Embudo with the following serving as pallbearers, Gary Booco, Matthew Booco, Ben Martinez, Joe Olivas , Chris Booco, Jeff Griego, Patricia Olivas and Marcos Olivas. Honorary pallbearers, Brian Booco, Josh Griego, Marisha Griego, Mark Olivas, George Atencio, Lydia Griego, Elise Olivas, Lonnie Duran, Reyes Duran, Thomas Romero and Sandy Romero. The family of Elviria Martinez has entrusted their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
