ELVIRA (ELVIE) GIEZENTANNER , 89, a resident of Espanola, formerly of California, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 4, 2018. Elvira was preceded in death by her son, Johnny Giezentanner; parents, Felipe and Julianita Maestas; brothers, Henry Maestas (Mary), Benito Maestas (Angie); Santiago Maestas (Eufemia), Johnny Maestas (Mercy) and sister Charlotte Velasquez (Lucas); brothers-in-law, Ben Espinoza and Robert Tainter. Elvie was born and raised in Chamita New Mexico. She moved to California and was a waitress at the Mexicasa Restaurant. Elvie loved to read and enjoyed going out to eat. She was very stylish and wore a signature fedora hat. She recently moved back home to be closer to family. Elvie is survived by her sisters, Polly Tainter and Theresa Espinoza; beloved niece and caregiver Angela Padilla and numerous nieces and nephews. A rosary will be recited on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at 10:15 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Espanola, with a Memorial mass to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. The family of Elvie Giezentanner has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley.
