ELVIRA PRISCILLA ROMERO
Elvira P. Romero , 91, born April 5, 1930, in Peralta, NM. and a longtime resident of Espanola, NM, passed away on October 19, 2021, following a sudden illness.
Elvira is preceded in death by her husband Fred P. Romero II, daughter Maria Anna Romero, her parents Luciano and Maria Romero, her siblings and other family members.
Elvira was a member of the La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Canada Alter and Rosary Society and Las Amigas del Valle. After raising her children, she worked as a substitute teacher and is still remembered fondly by her students. She was an excellent baker and famous for her flaky pie crust, biscochitos, sopapillas and homemade bread. She loved being with family and enjoyed dancing, decorating, growing beautiful flowers and margaritas.
Elvira is survived by her children Magdalena Romero, Marcianne (Wayne) Miller, Beth (Alex) Martinez, Fred (Carmella) Romero. She is also survived by her grandchildren DiAnna (David) Erdely, Christopher (Sha Marie) Martinez, Amanda (Bobby) Trujillo, Jonathan Miller, Nicholas Hunsaker, Alicia and Elena Romero. Great grandchildren include Zach and Zane Martinez and Dominic Miller.
Serving as pallbearers are DiAnna Erdely, Christopher Martinez, Amanda Trujillo, Jonathan Miller, Nicholas Hunsaker, Alicia Romero and Elena Romero.
Special thanks to Bunny, with whom she created a special bond, and to Carlos Gallegos for their loving care. Also, thanks to Legacy at Santa Fe staff and Compassus Hospice.
Services will be held at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Canada on October 28, 2021 (masks are required). Rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m. and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. A private Internment at The Santa Fe National Cemetery will follow at a later date.
