Elvira Montoya, 93 of Cordova, New Mexico, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 1, 2019 while in the care of her loving family.
Born on June 12, 1926, she was the daughter of Daniel Trujillo and Fernandita Pacheco. She was the youngest of her four siblings; Della, Anita, Tony, and Albert. On October 31st, 1941 She married Willie Montoya, and they went on to have eight children; Floyd, Lulu, Lita, Yolanda, Rachael, Magdalena, Edith and Ernie.
Today she is loved and remembered by a legacy of 20 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson, who knew her as Grams, Grandma Vera, Baby Grandma, and Grandma Red. She will always be remembered by her iconic curly red hair and her love for the color purple. She enjoyed dancing, spending time with friends and family, and watching Everybody Loves Raymond, The Golden Girls, Let’s Make A Deal and The Price Is Right. Elvira will also be remembered for her dedication as a hard-working nurses assistant and home care giver, as well as for her kindness, generosity and love for her family. She was truly a blessing and will be greatly missed.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home and Crematory with burial will follow at the Cordova Presbyterian Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers will be Willie Montoya, Mark Montoya, Joshua Archuleta, Johnny Segovia, Dimas Espinosa, Abram Espinosa, Sampson Espinosa, Jared Romero, Christopher Lovato, Rey Segovia, and Andrew Sifuentes.
