Elsie - Age 84 - Velarde Sanchez

Elsie V. Sanchez, 84, born November 2, 1929, a resident of Velarde went to be with Our Lord on Tuesday, February 11, 2014. She was preceded in death by her spouse, Antonio Sanchez; parents, Emilio and Lousita Vasquez; eight brothers, seven sisters; daughters, Lousita Sanchez, Mary Lena Garcia; sons, Emilito and Anthony Sanchez; son-in-law, Dario Garcia, daughters-in-law, Miquelita and Margaret Sanchez; grandson, Andrew Sanchez; and granddaughter, Jessica Sanchez. Mom was the heart and soul of our family and will be greatly missed by all, mom was a very loving mother, and grandmother, always wanting to feed you when you went to visit her, she was very strong in her faith and always loved going to church in Velarde. She faithfully listened to the Rosary, mom liked to embroider, she loved reading her bible and doing puzzle books. Elsie is survived by her children, Ray Sanchez and wife Mary of San Diego, CA., Elmer Sanchez and companion Patricia Salazar of Española, George Sanchez and wife Molly of Española, Maxine Bustos and husband Tim of Española, and Rubina Loibl and husband Chris of Española; sisters, Priscilla Martinez of Vadito and Anne Romero of Santa Fe, 27 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Friday, February 14, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Velarde. Burial to follow at Velarde Catholic Cemetery with the following as pallbearers, Alvin Garcia, Elmer Sanchez, Jr., Sonna Serrano, Kevin Sanchez, Beverly Vigil, and Elena Loibl. Honorary pallbearers are all her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. The family of Elsie V. Sanchez has entrusted their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
