Eloy Martinez

Eloy Joe Martinez was born on Saturday, July 19, 1941, in Ojo, New Mexico. He passed on May 20, 2024, at the age of 82 in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Eloy was a quiet, gentle man with a beautiful warm and honest soul strived to provide comfort and love to family and friends alike.

Eloy was preceded in death by his father Deloy Martinez and mother Urbania Martinez; brother Albaro Martinez and sisters Dolores Lujan and Manuelita Cordova; lastly, Eloy was preceded in death by granddaughter Tabatha Vigil.

He is survived by an abundance of family, wife Melita Martinez and ex-wife Josie; sons Rick Martinez, Allen Martinez and wife Veronica; daughter Maxine Perea and husband Marcos; stepson Jason Martinez and wife Karen, stepdaughters Lynette Martinez and husband Anthony (deceased) and Stephanie Martinez; grandchildren includes granddaughter Monique Allison and husband Joey, grandson Jeremy Vigil, and grandson Jonathan Martinez; great grandchildren are Kiley Vigil, Alize Vigil and Michaela Palamino. 

Eloy's career included working as a Logger for the US Forest Service, Heavy Equipment Operator in Cuba, NM., Mechanic for Ford in Farmington, NM, and Food worker at Pojoaque Schools.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, dancing, and playing the guitar. He adored the female form, his road trips and exploring led to many adventures to many places but Eloy adored his grandchildren and loved spending time with them and his nephews and nieces. Particularly Mary Archuleta whose tortillas he was fond of.

Eloy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. 

Memorial Services will be held in the following places. 

The Rosary at St. John the Baptist Church in San Juan Pueblo, New Mexico at 10:30 am on Thursday, May 30, 2024, with a Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 am – 12:00 pm.

Burial will be in El Guique, New Mexico and the Celebration of Life at the San Juan Baptist Church in the hall.
