Eloy - Age 67 - Española - Lopez

ELOY C. LOPEZ, 67, a retiree from the New Mexico State Police, passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2012. Eloy was preceded in death by his wife, Eva; son, Ivan; parents, Ernesto Lopez and Emily Medina Lopez. He is survived by his daughter, Colleen Lopez (significant other - Randy Gurule); grandson, Izaiah Lopez. Eloy is also survived by his beloved companion, Priscilla Valdez (her son, George Valdez); brothers: Eddie Lopez and wife Debbie, Lydio Lopez, Frutoso Lopez (deceased); sister-in-law, Velma Lopez, Ernie Lopez and wife Santana, sisters, Sylvia Martinez and husband Paul, Christina Lopez and Carlos, Frank Lopez and Georgianna, sole surviving aunt, Ida/Cliff Myers along with special cousins, Nobie Medina, Michael Medina, Anita Hart and many other aunts/uncles/cousins and relatives. He is also survived by a very loving/caring mother-in-law, Aurelia (Virginia) Martinez; sister-in-law, Lisa and husband Paul Redman; brother-in-law, Paul (Boy) Martinez and wife Terry; special cousins, Louise Maestas and Lawrence, Raymond Martinez, Geraldine Shaw and Rick, Belinda Valdez, Uncle Richard and Aunt Vangie Valdez, Uncle Eloy and wife Annie Salazar and many other relatives. Eloy honorably served in the United States Navy for 4 years - 4 months, was a security guard at the New Mexico State Penitentiary, and then later retired as a Lieutenant from the New Mexico State Police where he served for 27 years in numerous capacities (Investigator and narcotics agent). Upon retiring from the New Mexico State Police, he worked for the Los Alamos National Laboratory as an OPI agent. Thereafter, he assisted the Española Public Schools as an Educational Substitute. Eloy was a very reserved, kind, giving and very personable individual. Eloy definitely exhibited excellent pride, faith and leadership be it, his catholic faith, his family, his profession and his avocation. Public visitation will begin on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Friday, September 28, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. also at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. Burial to follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Christopher E. Lopez, Flavio Lopez, James Trujillo, Andy Sanchez, Paul Redman and Paul (Boy) Martinez. The family of Eloy C. Lopez has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
