Elizabeth Anne - age 83 - Los Alamos Jalbert

Elizabeth Anne Jalbert, 83, a longtime resident of Los Alamos, passed away peacefully at home Thursday, October 9, 2014 following a lengthy illness.\r\nShe is survived by her husband of 57 years, Roland A Jalbert; she is also survived by her children and their spouses and grandchildren, Marc Jalbert, Darby and Maddy from Longmont Colorado; Louis and Dawn Jalbert, Elyse and Amanda from Los Alamos; Marie-Louise Jalbert Hadden and Blaine Hadden from El Rito; and Christophe and Connie Jalbert and Connor of Seattle, Washington.\r\nMrs. Jalbert was born in 1931 in Vancouver, British Columbia. Her family moved to Germany in 1937 and were later trapped in war torn Europe. In 1949 she led her family back to Vancouver where she worked for the Vancouver Police Department as a translator.\r\nShe met Roland Jalbert from Fairbanks, Alaska in 1956. They were married in 1957 and moved to Fairbanks where she picked berries, put together a household, and began raising her four children. In 1966 Roland Jalbert accepted a position at Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory and all together settled permanently in Los Alamos (White Rock).\r\nMrs. Jalbert was involved in many volunteer activities. She was a volunteer librarian for the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, led regional German Club for more than 20 years, crocheted baby blankets for local charities, and worked as a receptionist at the local Senior Center, just to name a few.\r\nShe loved to entertain, cook for family and friends, and was always ready for a long talk in either English or German. She loved to walk, swim, line dance and stayed active with these activities as long as she was able.\r\nA Rosary will be recited on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Los Alamos. Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 24, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Los Alamos
