ELIZABETH EMILIE BATEMAN, 35, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Tuesday, September 11, 2013, after a long struggle with mental illness. Elizabeth is a Los Alamos native and best remembered as a loving daughter, sister, and friend. She will be missed by her father, Alfred Bateman; brothers, Andrew Bateman (and wife, Lindsay) and Jef Bateman (and wife, Sheryl) and three nieces, Lydia, Amelia, and Josephine. Elizabeth is also remembered as a loving and devoted friend to many. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her mother, Judith Carolyn Bateman. Elizabeth was born in Los Alamos on May 31, 1978. She graduated from Los Alamos High School in 1996, from McMurry University in Abilene, Texas in 2000 (bachelor's), and from Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas in 2007 (master's). Elizabeth was employed as an elementary school teacher in Fort Worth, Texas in 2006-2007. \r\nElizabeth was an active member of Youth Working for Youth and Clowns for Christ during High School and a member of the T.I.P. women's social club at McMurry University. Elizabeth enjoyed writing and art, but mostly she enjoyed spending time with her friends.\r\nShe will be best remembered as a fun-loving and creative daughter, sister, aunt, and friend to those who loved and cared for her. She left us too soon.\r\nFor those with fond memories of Elizabeth, there will be an informal prayer and fellowship gathering on Friday, September 27, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at White Rock United Methodist Church (580 Meadow Lane).\r\nIn lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a loving donation to the charity of your choice.\r\nThe family of Elizabeth Emilie Bateman has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
