Eliza - El Rito Garcia

ELIZA L. GARCIA, a resident of El Rito, God opened His arms and welcomed our mama home on Sunday, June 10, 2012. Eliza died peacefully and accepted her cross and carried her pain with dignity. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. Eliza loved to cook and make tortillas. She always made sure there was chile on the table for every meal. She enjoyed playing bingo and in her earlier years she enjoyed traveling. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She looked forward to the holidays when she could be with her loved ones. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, the Holy Family Society and also sang in the church choir. She was a devote Catholic and had a strong devotion to St. Anthony. She prayed her rosary daily. Eliza is survived by her children, Dennis, Imelda, Joseph, Patricia, Michael, and her little angel, Gerald; grandchildren, Dennis, Anna, Carlos, Eric Carlos, Lauren, Evan and Ryan. One sister and one brother: Josephine Maestas and Pete Lucero; sisters-in-law, Amalia Contreras and Jane Garcia and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the San Juan Nepomuceno Catholic Church in El Rito. Burial to follow at the Martinez Cemetery in El Rito with her children serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers named are grandchildren and her special friend, Cora Ortega. The family of Eliza L. Garcia has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
