Eliseo Jacquez

ELISEO TOBIAS JACQUEZ, 89, a resident of Gallina, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 following a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eufemia Jacquez; daughter, Irene Jacquez; parents, Juan Ignacio and Fransisquita Jacquez and numerous siblings. He was retired from the US Forest Service. He was a penitente from the Morada in Gallina for 68 years. He was a member of the American Legion in Cuba for many years as well as a member of the Sagrada Familia. Eliseo loved hunting, woodcarving, reading and baseball. He loved spending time with his grandchildren teaching them to learn to do their multiplication tables. He loved his family dearly and had a genuine love for the Lord. Mr. Jacquez is survived by his children, Delfin Jacquez (Rita), Olivia Riley (Greg), Lisa Becker (Marvin), Michael Jacquez (Mary), Judy Cordova (Ray), Julie Bangert, Yvette VanZanten (Jeff), Toby Jacquez (Melanie); sister, Lucy Casuas; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A second public visitation will begin on Sunday, April 17, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Gallina with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Gallina. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Monday, April 18, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Gallina. Burial to follow at the Gallina Catholic Cemetery with the following grandsons serving as pallbearers, Kevin Branch, Eric Jacquez, Timothy Trujillo, Kristopher Cordova, Joshua Jacquez, Michael Jacquez, Gary Morfin, Derek VanZanten. Honorary pallbearers named are, Lucas and Jeremy Trujillo and Dion Jacquez.
