ELICIA R. MARTINEZ, 89, a resident of Española, passed away on Monday, April 21, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband, Amarante Martinez; father, Todocio and Gelacia Romero; mother, Francisquita Martinez; grandson, Steve Quintana and Amarante Trujillo; granddaughter, Yvette Martinez; son-in-law, Esteban Quintana; brothers, Remigio Vigil, Ubaldo, Mike and Benino Martinez and sister, Teresita Martinez. Mrs. Martinez is survived by her children, Remigio Martinez and wife Beverly of Grants, Joseph Larry Martinez and wife Vickie Gonzales of Española, Audilia Guerrero and husband Lupe of Albuquerque, Esmeralda Vialpando and husband Ruben of Chama, Gloria Tafoya and husband Edward of Manzano, JoAnn Quintana of Grants, Eileen Martinez and husband Antonio of Grants, Rachel Gonzales and husband Robert of Albuquerque and Frances Trujillo and companion Rudy Archuleta of Dixon; sisters, Gloria Vigil of Bernalillo, Eusebia Quezada of Santa Cruz and Benerita Martinez of Santa Cruz; brothers, Roman Martinez and wife Dolores of California, Mel Martinez and wife Jeri of Santa Cruz and Joe Rufino Martinez and wife Mabel of Truchas and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and four generations of great-great-grandchildren and numerous relatives to mention by name. Hoping to have included all and sorry if we forgot anyone without intention. Public visitation will begin on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada with a rosary to be recited at 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian burial to follow after at 11:00 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. Burial to follow at the Llanitos Cemetery in Truchas with the following serving as pallbearers, Arthur Martinez, Remigio Martinez, Jr., Joel Martinez, Emmett Rael, Antoinette Vallejos, Jerome Martinez and Nicholas Ortiz. Honorary pallbearers will be all her grandchildren and four generations of great-grandchildren. The family of Elicia R. Martinez has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.\r\n
