Eli Gonzales, 82, resident of llano de San Juan, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alejandro and Soraida Gonzales; sisters, Oralia Gonzales and Maria Dora Gonzales, brothers, Abran and Cerilo Gonzales. Mr. Gonzales was a humble loving and generous man who loved being outdoors especially hunting and fishing. He loved his entire family unconditionally along with his family he loved his faith. He has been active with the Penitentes de Llano de San Juan de Nepomuceno since he was 12 years old along with dancing with the Matachines. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Peñasco council. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Mr. Gonzales is survived by his wife of 63 years Martha Gonzales; sons, Richard Gonzales (Theresa), Gabriel Gonzales (Norma), daughters, Lillian Vigil, Faby Mondragon (Leo), Patsy Valdez (Marvin), Rachel Lopez (Fred), Martha Sanchez (Francisco); sister, Melicia Gonzales, plus numerous other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, and numerous other loving relatives and friends. La Llegada will begin on Friday, June 20, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at the San Antonio de Pauda Catholic Church in Peñasco, with a public visitation to follow, a second rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the San Antonio de Pauda Catholic Church, with a burial to follow at Morada de Llano de San Juan de Nepomuceno Catholic Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Gabriel Gonzales, Joseph Mondragon, Raymond Duran Jr., Andrew Sanchez, Soriada Sanchez, Erica Lopez, and Eugena Gonzales.
