Elda Susie Medina

Elda Susie Medina, 79, a resident of Espanola, formally of Chamisal, passed away on Monday, February 19, 2018 following a lengthy illness with her family by her side. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose Adan and Regina Lopez; brother, Jose Adan Lopez Jr.; grandson, James Medina; nephews, Fred Lopez and David Sanchez, niece, Rebecca Apodaca; father-in-law, Eufelio Edward Medina Sr.; mother-in-law, Josie Baca; sisters-in-law, Dinah Lopez, Jess Medina, Ruth Final and Rosie Lopez; brothers-in-law, Irvin Roy and Artie Granquist; special cousins, Gavino and Frances Lopez and Robert Lopez; a dear aunt, Teofila Lopez and many other aunts and uncles. She loved to sew, cook and go camping, she also loved doing puzzles. Her passion was spending time with and caressing her family. No one left her house without eating and being loved compassionately.  She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Elda is survived by her husband of 58 years, Eufelio Edward Medina Jr.; children, Robin Duran (Joe), Claudelle Martinez (Joseph), Clara Ortega (John); grandchildren, Anjolyn Martinez, Johanna Martinez (Larry), JoRonda Abeyta (Stephen), David Ortega (Amelia), Michael Ortega (Shay), one very special great-grandson, Ezerah Martinez; special great-grandsons also, Josiah, Zeriah, and Zayden Martinez; siblings, Viola Apodaca (Foster), Connie Manzanares (Alfonso), Pearl Sanchez (Tiny), Dorothy Grandguist (Clause), Paul Lopez and Julian Lopez (Debra); sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Archuleta, Stella Medina, Anna Medina and Claudette Connor; brother-in-law, Ramos Medina; a nephew who lived with her during his high school years, Gabriel Lopez; God children, Christine, April, Shavonn, Karen and numerous others, too many to mention by name, and many other relatives and friends. I love you all very much. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, February 26, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Rock Christian Fellowship Church in Española with burial to follow at 12:45 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.  Serving the family as honorary pallbearers are David, Michael, Ezerah, Josiah, Zeriah, Zayden and Stephen. The family of Elda Susie Medina has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory.
