Edward O. Quintana, age 73, a resident of Cuarteles, passed away on Friday January 24, 2025.
Edward was preceded in death by his only son, Edward T. Quintana Jr.; parents, Jose Ignacio and Maria Agapita Quintana; brother, Donald B. Quintana; sister, Maxine L. Quintana; maternal grandparents, Cresencio and Refugito Lopez; paternal grandparents, Casimiro and Maximana Quintana; and brother-in-law, Clyde Gonzales.
Edward lived for his oldies and made it a point to attend the Hot August Nights Car show in Reno, Nevada every year. Whether it was tinkering with his ’56 Chevy or his ‘30s Roadster, oldies captivated his heart almost as much as Sennie did. He loved everything that had to do with the outdoors from fishing and skiing to hunting. Family and friends meant everything to Edward. He would take yearly cruises with the whole gang in tow and made it a point to spend the Fourth of July in Red River. He couldn’t do any of this without the support and help of his caregiver, Dion. Edward worked hard to make his lawn the greenest and his flowers the prettiest. So every time he would drive up and see his neighbor with green grass in February, Edward would complain that he’d better get on the ball and start fertilizing. “How embarrassing,” he would say. Edward had stories to tell and knew where all the bodies were buried. We hope that with the friends and family that Edward kept so close, and with the secrets and stories they had to tell, he will live in our hearts forever. In the last week of his life, he told everyone who came to visit that he lived a long life, he lived a good life and was ready for his Heavenly transition, and felt that the only one who got cheated with life was his son, Edward Jr. Edward would have been 74 on Tuesday, January 28th. Happy Birthday, huney.
Edward is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Sennie L. Quintana; brothers, Stephen Quintana (Susan) of Arroyo Seco, Michael Quintana (Cindy) of Pojoaque, and Lorenzo Quintana of Cuarteles; brother-in-law, Jerry Gonzales of Santa Fe; sister-in-law, Adela Trujillo (Jerry) of Chimayo; nephews, Matthew Quintana, Jerry Gonzales Jr., Kevin Salazar, Jerry J. Trujillo Jr. (Matt); nieces, Donita and Alisha Quintana, Sarah Payne (Ryan), Diedrie Valdez (John), Melissa Valdez (Alvin) and Tiffany Quintana.
