EDWARD ELI ESQUIBEL, 42, a resident of Cuarteles, passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2011 following a brief illness. Edward was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and horseback riding in Borrego Mesa with his uncle Sam and other cousins and friends. He loved gardening with his parents and enjoyed being with friends and family. He was very proud of his one and only son, Alejandro Randy. He was loved by all who knew him and will be deeply missed. Edward was preceded in death by his father, Henry Esquibel; brother, Henry Esquibel, Jr. and sister, Anna Esquibel; paternal grandparents, Alejandro and Eloisa Esquibel; uncles, Sam, Ramon, Max and Candelario; aunts, Gloria, Dora and Donelia. Mr. Esquibel is survived by his mother, Carol Esquibel; son, Randy Sandoval; Niece, Erica Salazar and fiancé, Anthony Valdez; nephews, Matthew and Andrew Lopez; great-nephews, Anthony Jr. and Eric Valdez; brother-in-law, Carlo Lopez; grandparents, Pedro and Dora Roybal; uncles, Gus and wife June, Danny and wife Diolinda, Billy and wife Cordelia and Larry Roybal all of El Rancho; aunts, Edwina, Velma and Louisa Esquibel, Marie Carmen, Tina Trujillo and Josie Cervantes; special cousin who was like a sister, Patty Wheeler and numerous other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Sunday, October 30, 2011 at 5:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a wake to begin at 6:00 p.m. and rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Monday, October 31, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. Burial to follow at the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers: Adam Martinez, Marty Sherwood, Max (Gillie) Esquibel, Larry Roybal, Anthony Valdez, Archie Martinez, Charlie Esquibel and Carlo Lopez; honorary pallbearers: Matthew and Andrew Lopez, Anthony Jr. and Eric Valdez, Santiago Rodarte, Richard Montoya and Patty Wheeler. The family of Edward Eli Esquibel has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
