Edna Mae Lovato, 61, a resident of La Madera, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 3, 2015 surrounded by her family. She was born in Murray, Utah on February 18, 1954 to Melaquias and Maclovia Vargas. She was preceded in death by her father, Melaquias Vargas; her mother, Maclovia Vargas; her loving husband of 42 years, Edward Lovato; her brothers, Melaquias Vargas Jr., Beltran Trujillo and Leroy Vargas. Edna retired from the Mesa Vista School District with 28 years of service. Working with children made Mrs. Edna very happy. Edna was extremely creative and loved making arts & crafts with her students. Edna was known for her ability to create outstanding bulletin boards and her ability to make costumes and decorations from scratch for school programs. Edna is survived by her daughters, Jessica Manzanares (Juan Jose), Stephanie Reyes (Manuel) and Sarah Lovato; Edna was "Nana" to seven grandchildren, Maryssa Manzanares-Martin, Antonio Edward Manzanares, Isaiah Reyes, Alejandro Reyes, Joseph Reyes, Damien Caban, and Danika Caban; siblings, Emily Martinez, Adelina Leichtle, Irene Jacquez, Robert Vargas, Pete Trujillo, Amelia Trujillo and Joe Trujillo\r\nA special thanks to Kathy West, Amelia/Teofelo Martinez, Pete/Susie Trujillo, Henry/Tina Griego, Mario Sandoval and Timmy Pena. Thank you to the staff at the Albuquerque and Espanola Presbyterian hospital and the staff at Ambercare for their care and support. \r\nEdna Lovato's family would like to invite family and friends to join them for a Celebration of her life on Friday, May 8, 2015 at 6:00pm at the Ojo Caliente Elementary School Cafetorium. The family of Edna Mae Lovato has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.\r\n
