Doris "Tweety" Gurule

Doris “Tweety” Gurule, 62, a resident of Española, passed away on Monday, June 11, 2018. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Gurule; father, Jose E. Duran Jr.; brother, Jason Duran; nephews, Gary Duran Jr. and Michael Martinez Jr. and brother-in-law, Tino Baca Sr. Doris was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and aunt who enjoyed spending quality time with her family. Doris retired in 2016 from the State of NM Office of Superintendent of Insurance in Santa Fe.  She enjoyed cooking for her family, camping, watching movies and listening to music. Doris had a heart of gold; she was always caring for someone in need. She was a beautiful soul that will be missed dearly by everyone who knew and loved her. Doris is survived by her daughter, Josette Gurule and companion, Manuel Gonzales; mother, Maria E. Duran; grandchildren, Jerrae Vidal, Rey Vidal and Geno Gurule; siblings, Sandra Martinez and husband, Michael, JoAnne Baca, Nancy Garcia, Gary Duran and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends whom she loved dearly. Public visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a devotional service to follow at 6:30 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Victory Faith Church in Española. The family of Doris “Tweety” Gurule has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
