Doris Palomares

Doris Palomares, 64, a resident of Espanola originally of Alcalde, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2023, of a lengthy illness.

The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Doris. She enjoyed going on long car rides, cooking for her family, seeing her Denver Broncos play, attending her grandchildren’s school events, sporting events, and traditional dances. Doris greatest blessings were her children. She had always longed to have grandchildren. She adopted many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews who would call her Grandma Doris. It wasn’t until till Frances made her wish come true.  She always wanted her house full of grandchildren.  She was ecstatic when her children blessed her with sixteen grandchildren. Where ever you saw her, her children were always with her.  Doris had a heart of gold, always giving a helping hand whenever was needed. She would go without to see those she loved happy. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren.  She loved the Lord, her family and Denver Broncos. She truly was a one of a kind, loving and generous
woman who always had her door open. All the neighborhood children were always at her house.  She was known as momma Doris. She worked many years as a cook with the Espanola Public Schools. Later on she went to work at Taco
Bell In Totavi. After that she became a grandmother.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents Floyd and Viola Valdez, In-laws Jose and Francisca Palomares, brothers Eric and Floyd Jr, sister Hilda Vigil, nephews Chris Vigil and Juanito Valdez. In-laws Reymudo, Heriberto, Natividad and Jose Palomares and Geraldine Mendez.

Doris is survived by her husband of forty six years Jose Palomares, her children Frances Palomares (Cesar) , Andrea Baca (Lupe), Jose Palomares (April) Jennifer Garcia (Anthony RJ), Megan Martinez (Isaiah), Andrew Palomares (Alasha). Her grandchildren Britney, Alexis, Devlin, Dion, Kaleb, Hezekiah, Jolisa, Viola, Joseph, Austin, Gabriel, Jaiden, Erica, Kyren, Zuriah and Ayden. Her siblings Benicio Valdez (Ruby), Joann Salazar (Neo), Mary Camargo (Arturo), Raymond Valdez (Tracy), Brenda Moreno (Miguel) and Juanita Valdez. In-laws Fernando and Fabian Palomares (Luz), Gabby Lugo (Jose).

A public viewing will take place on Friday, December 15, 2023, at 10:00 am at The Rock Christian Fellowship in Espanola, NM, with a Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 am. Burial will take place at Loma Vista Cemetery In Alcalde.

Pallbearers are Andrew, Devlin, Jose Palomares, Arturo and Neiamiah Camargo, Danny and James
Valdez, Chris Vigil Jr and Leonard (Lucas) Martinez.  Honorary pallbearers are all grandchildren and her
siblings.
