Dora Martinez Romero

d. February 17, 2025

Cuba

February 17th, 2025, Heaven opened the doors and Dora (Nina) Martinez Romero walked through the steps into the Lord's arm and gained wings. She was welcomed in heaven by her grandparents Manuel (Chalan), Romancita Valdez, Anastasio Martinez and Sophia Martinez; parents Octaviano Clovis Sr. and Lucy Valdez Martinez; twin sister Nora Rivera; father of her 2 daughters Edward (Eddie )Romero; Comadre Nancy Atencio; Lloyd Valdez, Juan (Bobo) Jr., Wilson, Jadryn Rivera, as well other family members & friends.

Lots of memories are left here by her surviving family, her oldest daughter Juanita (Ben) Gonzales; grandchildren, Isaiah, Elijah, Chris (Krystal), Levi, Gabriel, (Trinnie) Gonzales; her youngest daughter Rose (Richard) Samaniego; grandchildren Santita, Jacob, Ricco, Emillio Samaniego. Dora considered Ginny (Joe) Victoria, Jolene, Sierra, baby Garth Marcus Marquez, Lori (Andrew) & Caitlin Hoffman, Juan (Bobo) Jr, James, Jeremey, Jessie Wilson like her own children. Blessed by her surviving siblings Nea Montoya, (Marty), Gene Valdez, Donna Martinez, (Mark Bayless), Clovis (Marcella) Martinez, Darlene (Howard) Gurule, and Lucy Martinez. She is also blessed with nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews. Monica, Wedo, Kari, Eugene, Darren, Valerie, Megan, David (Lekeya), Norman (Tina) Isaac, Alexis, Janet, Ellena, John, Toni, Lizette, Jaythan, Baby Angel, Johnny, Mariah, Kristen (Trent) Kayla, Jessica (Miguel), Miguel Jr, Clovis III (Valerie), Jnly, Christopher, Erik (Vanessa), Mason, Abigail & Howard Jr.

She was honored to baptized Kristen, Victoria, Taylor, Spencer & T.J. who helped with her name calling Nina, which she was Nina not just to them, but others. She was the type of person that would give her shirt off her back for anyone who needed it. She was a fighter till the end. She worked multiple jobs to make sure to provide for her daughters and to have to spoil everyone around her. She enjoyed being in the mountains, spending time with family, laughing, listening to music, & enjoying life to the fullest. She also enjoyed casino trips, but most of all enjoyed her morning coffee visits with her Comadre Nancy they were inseparable. As she got older Compadre Alfonso Atencio would always make sure to go pick up her mail & check on her after Nancy passed. If you ever met Dora, you would know you would probably remember her by making sure everybody was fed as they walked through the doors of her house or even on a road trip. If you ever met her, then you are left with a memory as she is unforgettable.

That being said a special thanks goes out to Anvoi Hospice staff, as well as Claudette, Adan, Oliver, Patricia, Marcos who have all helped with her care. Thank you Devargas for helping through this time of putting her to rest.

You are all welcome to join the family on Friday, February 28, 2025, at 11:30 am for viewing, followed by a blessing, then the Rosary in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home in Espanola, NM. After we will be sharing memories and eating (like Dora would want) at the Espanola Senior Center at 1:30 pm.
