Donnie Ray Salazar – Age 30, a resident of Monte Vista, CO. and formerly of Medanales passed away on Thursday, February 3, 2011. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Merejildo Martinez of Chimayo; maternal grandparents: Adelina Maestas of Española, Perfecto Herrera of Colorado, Rebecca Martinez of Chimayo and Fernandes Martinez of Chimayo; uncles: Lawrence Maestas, Joseph Maestas and Leroy Maestas; aunt, Glorinda Garcia. He loved to cook, joke around, he had a big heart making sure everyone was fed and cared for. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing. His children were his pride and joy. He always made sure his mom was taken care of. He loved music and dancing and was a handyman everyone relied on. He will be dearly missed. Donnie ran track in Elementary and Jr. High, was a wrestler in High School and also studied Kick Boxing. He is survived by his son, Tommy Ray Salazar of Albuquerque; daughters: Adelina Marie Salazar and Kendra Rae Salazar both of Española; and an unborn child due in June; mother, Loretta Archuleta of Albuquerque; fiancé, Autumn Martinez; sister, Donna Lawrence and husband Jerry of Alamogordo, NM; maternal grandmother, Celia Martinez and companion Ramon Sotelo of Chimayo; close friend, Silver Torrez of Velarde; aunts: Kathy Camargo and husband Efrain of Chicago, IL, Esther Martinez and husband Gabie of Chimayo and Barbara Martinez and companion Larry of Ranchitos, Rose Archuleta of Albuquerque, Dilia Martinez of Espanola, Mary Laurel and husband Bernie of San Antonio, TX; uncles, Marvin Martinez and companion Janice of Chimayo, Henry Garcia and companion Aurora of Chimayo; very close cousins: Jerry Archuleta of Arroyo Seco and Christopher Archuleta of Chamita; father-in-law to be, Danny Martinez of Medanales; mother-in-law to be, Renee Martinez of Colorado; great-grandparents: Avenicio and Angela Maestas of Española; brother-in-law, Ryan Gallegos and companion Donna of Colorado; sister-in-law, Kylie Martinez of Colorado; uncles and aunts: Joe and Lucella Maez of Bernalillo, Corlinda Lujan of Coyote, Donald Herrera and wife Cordie of Colorado, Julian Herrera and wife Theresa of Santa Fe, Joe Herrera and wife Lydia of Albuquerque, Gilbert Herrera and wife Theresa of Chamita, Martha Serrano of Bernalillo, Isabelle Jaramillo and companion Denny of Carson, Becky Arellano of Alcalde; Godmothers: Dora Quintana of Bernalillo and Brenda Martinez of Medanales; Godfather, Kelly Archuleta of Medanales; and numerous other relatives and friends. Public Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 10, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. Burial will follow at the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Daniel Martinez, Aaron Gallegos, Ryan Gallegos, Marvin Martinez, Ricky Salazar and Larry Chavez. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be: all of his nieces and nephews: Marissa, Christopher, Michael Anthony and Jennissa Lawrence, as well as his friends: Rachelle, Annie, Donna, Alfonso, Marvin, Rumaldo Jaramillo and Max Martinez.
