Donna Sanchez Shadoan, 87, passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2020. Donna was born on December 18, 1932 in Alcalde, NM, the daughter of Louisa Vialpando Sanchez and Antonio Sanchez. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Robert D. Shadoan, her parents, her eldest brother Paul Sanchez and his wife Marina Sanchez, her brother Eddie Sanchez and his wife Carmen Sanchez, her sister Ida Sanchez Carrillo and her husband Dr. Federico Martinez Carrillo and baby sister Barbara Sanchez. She leaves behind her sisters Dora Medina, Mabel Marquez, Rita Sanchez, and Susan Beaman. Her two sons, Rodney D. Shadoan and Robert A. Shadoan and his wife Arlene Shadoan survive her. She was an inspiration to her grandchildren Desiree Shadoan and her boyfriend Jessie Arredondo, Jr., Jessica Martinez, Nicole Shadoan and her husband Drew Lambert, and Darryl Shadoan. Donna was also a loving great grandmother to Mackenzie Metcalf, Spencer Arredondo, Vincent Arredondo, Trinity Archuleta, and Ronin Lambert. She is also survived by her many nieces, nephews, and other family members whom she loved so much. She was a natural born educator for 33 years who later retired as a Bilingual School Educator. She graduated from Highlands University with a Masters Degree in Las Vegas, NM. Her love for cooking was passed down to her grandchildren along with many of her famous traditional recipes, Camel Rock Casino published one of her cook books. She enjoyed puzzles and singing in the car to Spanish music. She gave us all such courage and hope and reminded us of the preciousness of life. She prayed the rosary every night and was a member of the Morada de Alcalde. Donna will be greatly missed by her many friends and family. A rosary will be recited on Tuesday October 13, 2020 at 6:15 p.m with a devotional service to follow at 7:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Memorial mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Alcalde, with a burial to follow at 2:15 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
