Donelia Martinez

DONELIA “DONNA” MARTINEZ, a resident of Alcalde, originally from Chamita, entered Heavens gates on Monday, June 1, 2015. Donna was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Senon Martinez; parents, Jose Serbando and Tonita Garcia; daughters, Eloisa Martinez, and Bettie K. Cordova; father and mother-in-law, Miguel and Berina Martinez; brothers, Guadalupe and Eloy Garcia; brother-in-law, Canuto Pacheco. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Donna was a home maker. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for family and friends. Donna was a born again Christian who became a devout charter member of Victory Faith Church. She made an impact as a Sunday school teacher, church council woman, Bible study leader and prayer warrior. Donna had an unwavering faith in God. Donna raised 3 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren they were her pride and joy. Donna is survived by her sister, Tina Garcia of Chamita; grandchildren, Patrick, Daniel and Desiree Martinez all of Alcalde; great-grandchildren, Leroy, Brandon, and Dominick Martinez of Alcalde; sisters –in-law, Eulalia Pacheco of Chimayo, Sylvia Garcia of Chamita; spiritual daughter, Felina Trujillo of Pojoaque, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at Victory Faith Church in Espanola. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 5, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Victory Faith Church, with a burial to follow at the Loma Vista Cemetery in Alcalde. Serving the family as pallbearers are Leroy, Brandon and Dominick Martinez, Kenny Pacheco, Joyce B. Garcia Y Balkey and Nicole Romero, honorary pallbearers are Diane Gonzales, Renee Chavez, and Luisita Pacheco. The family of Donelia Martinez has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley.
