Donald R. “Boogie” Chavez – Age 53 a resident of Alcalde, went to be with our Dear Lord on Sunday, November 6, 2011. He was surrounded by his family. Donald was a well known and loved person. He had a great passion for music. He was an active member of the Alcalde Church Choir. Donald is survived by his parents: Frank and Flores Chavez of Alcalde; son, Ricky Donald Chavez and wife Nadine; mother of his son, Diane Bustos; daughter, Mariah Chavez and companion Kyle; mother of his daughter, Loriann Martinez; sisters: Eppie Archuleta and husband Gary, Antonette Lovato and husband Johnny and Francine Valdez; brother-in-law, Gilbert Valdez; Donald’s companion, Molly Trujillo and son Justin; granddaughter, Alexis Archuleta; nieces: Nicole Chung and husband Phat and son Lennox, Angelique Rodriguez and husband Randy and daughters: Dominique and Destiny, JamieLee Valdez, Jessica Archuleta and son Jayden and Amanda Archuleta and companion Andrew Bustos; nephews: Brandon Chavez and fiancé Nicole Sisneros, Jody Valdez and wife Chiara and daughter Sofia, Josh Lovato; adopted brother, Timmy Martinez; and numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Francisco P. and Frances Chavez; maternal grandparents: Celedonio and Adela Martinez; great-grandparents: Damacio and Nicolasa Espinoza. Public visitation will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel at DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 11, 2011 at 8:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh with interment to take place at 10:30 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be: Josh Lovato, Jody Valdez, Brandon Chavez, Randy Rodriguez, Sandy Medina, Gilbert Valdez, Andrew Salazar and Harold Salazar. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be: Timmy Martinez, Jerome Sanchez, Jeff Ferrar and Gail Martinez, Johnny Lovato and Gary Archuleta.
