DONALDO E. ROYBAL, 63, a resident of Nambe, passed away on Monday, December 12, 2011, Feast day of Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pablo and Ruby Roybal. Donaldo was born January 30, 1948. He lived a life dedicated to his family which was most important to him. His service to the community, his love of the land, traditional Northern New Mexico culture, the acequias, the Catholic Church. He passed the traditions of the dairy farm in which he grew up and was raised in to his family. He was a valuable community member serving as mayordomo of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nambe and also taught catechism for many years. He retired from the Los Alamos Fire Department and served as mayordomo of several of the acequias in the valley. He was a member of the S.P.M.D.T.U. and the Sociedad de Sagrado Corazon de Jesus. He was a talented farmer and dedicated significant efforts to the maintaining the dairy farm, Rancho Las Lagunas, where he grew up and chose to raise his family. He prayed with each of his children, Angel de mi Guardia, each bedtime that he was home. Mr. Roybal is survived by his children, Maria Rector and husband Kirk, Fernando Roybal and wife Melissa, Miguel Roybal and wife Kristen and Camila Roybal; grandchildren, Leah Rector and Riley Roybal; mother of his children, Dora Garduño; brothers and sisters, Alberto, Roberto, Ricardo (Judy), Santiago, Paula Sanchez (Gary), Alfredo (Orlinda), Anna Price (Thom) and Paul; God-sons, Sam Roybal and Brian Salazar and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Thursday, December 15, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nambe with a rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Friday, December 16, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. also at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nambe. Burial to follow at the Pojoaque Catholic Cemetery. The family of Donaldo E. Roybal has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
