Donald - Age 77 - Ojo Caliente Galvez

Donald Galvez – Age 77 a resident of Ojo Caliente passed away on Friday, September 24, 2010. He was preceded in death by his parents: Francisco and Maria Galvez; daughter, Yolanda Galvez; granddaughter, Maggie Galvez; brothers-in-law: Hipolito Chavez and Daniel Martinez; and Godchild, Andrew Suazo. Mr. Galvez was a life member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ojo Caliente. He was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed the outdoors and gardening. He was a very humble man who loved his family and his many friends. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Theresa Galvez of Ojo Caliente; son, Matthew Galvez and companion Mark Martinez of Albuquerque; 2 daughters: Bernadette Galvez of Ojo Caliente and Melissa Galvez and companion Alex Valdez of Rio Rancho; granddaughter, Mariah Galvez of Ojo Caliente; 2 brothers: Amadeo Galvez and wife Elizaida of Ojo Caliente and Lupe Galvez and wife Amelia of Albuquerque; 3 sisters: Griselda Chavez of Española, Cristela Martinez of El Rito and Gilia Martinez and husband Joe of Ojo Caliente; Godchildren: Beverly Ortega, Jynella Jaramillo, Patricia Cata, Kathleen Trujillo and Cornelio Lopez, Jr,; and numerous other relatives and friends. Public visitation will be held on Monday, September 27, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ojo Caliente. Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Gary and Danny Martinez, Paul Chavez, Manuel Galvez, Paul Archuleta and Henry Griego. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be: Leonel Chacon, Johnny Martinez, Lalo Trejo, Rick Dzick, Urban Gutierrez and Ben Chacon.
