DONACIANO DON M. VALDEZ, 97, a resident of Ojo Caliente, passed away on Thursday, October 25, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lila Valdez; great-grandson, Marquez Magaña; two sisters, Concesion Chacon, Flora Chavez, three brothers, Elias, Joe and Ben Valdez. Don served in the US Army during World War II. Don enjoyed farming and planting and seeing things grow on his land in Ojo Caliente. He was an avid teacher and educator and he influenced students to learn and do great things with their lives. In 1986 he retired from his teaching position and focused fully on his family. Don is survived by his daughters, Evelyn, Marcia (James Thomas), Donna Contreras, and Pamela Valdez, raised like a daughter, DawnMarie Magaña, sons, Roland Valdez (Emily), Kenneth Valdez (Christina), Clarence Valdez (Shirley), and Virgil Valdez, raised like a son, Sean Valdez (Rachel); 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. “O Lord….. Public visitation will begin on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at 5:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a wake service to follow at 6:30 p.m. Burial will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Ojo Caliente Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Roland, Virgil, Sean, Clarence and Kenneth Valdez and Miguel Contreras.
