Domicilia - Age - 83 - Chimayo - Ortiz

Domicilia Ortiz – Age 83, lifelong resident of Chimayo, passed on Friday, December 14, 2012 surrounded by loved ones. Domicilia was born on October 11, 1929 to Antonio and Fedelina Vigil, who also preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her step-mother, Margarita Vigil; husband, Luis Ortiz; brothers: Guadalupe and Amarante Vigil; sister, Lourdes Ortega; nephew, Reynaldo Ortiz. She was a wonderful aunt, step-mother, and grandmother who loved all her nephews, nieces, and grandchildren. She raised two nephews and one niece as her own. She worked as a housekeeper all her life and enjoyed her work. She was a parishioner of The Holy Family Parish in Chimayo and was a member of the altar society. She loved gardening and taking care of her flowers. She was a very immaculate person. She loved sightseeing and visiting relatives and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Ms. Ortiz is survived by her close nephews/step-sons: Clarence and spouse Laura Ortiz, Tito and spouse JoAnne Ortiz all of Chimayo; close niece/ step-daughter, Lina Ortiz of Chimayo; close great nephews/ grandsons, Stephen Moya and companion Rachel Povijua of Chimayo and Robert and spouse Stephanie Moya of Española; great nieces/ granddaughters: Unity and spouse Marcus Trujillo of Chimayo, and Cyrina and spouse Andres Villareal of Hernandez; Godson, Marcus P. Trujillo of Chimayo; Other nieces: Vera Vigil of Chimayo, Marlene Ortiz, Rachael and John Arguello and Natashia Ortega, all of Santa Fe, and Yvonne Ortega and companion Eloy Montoya of La Madera; Step-sister and friend, Emilia and spouse Tiburcio Vigil; sister-in-law, Domitila Ortiz, and numerous other relatives and friends. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all those who prayed for her over the past months, Amber Care, Altar Society members, Carolina and Vicki Ortiz, Barney, Shannon, Janessa and Tiffany Trujillo, DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory Staff, Father Julio, Deacon Manny Montoya, Choir, and the Hermanos from the Morada de San Fransico in El Duende and Stella and Felix Vigil and for those that we may have not mentioned we apologize your love and gratitude did not go unnoticed, we love you all. Rosary will be recited on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo. Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 21, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo. Interment will be held on Monday, December 24, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Her great-great nephews/ grandsons will serve as pallbearers: Matthew and Melachi Trujillo, Adrin and Stephen Moya Jr. The family of Domicilia Ortiz has entrusted the care of their beloved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley. 505-747-7477
