Dolores Cecilia Sanchez

Dolores T Sanchez (Lolly), 76, a resident of Velarde, NM, was called to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on December 30, 2024. She was born in Embudo, NM, on July 18, 1948, to Elmer and Isabel Torres. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Peter F Sanchez Sr.; daughter Alicia Sanchez, her Son Peter F. Sanchez Jr.; father Elmer J. Torres Sr.; brother Elmer J. Torres Jr.; uncle Tony Vigil; In-laws Jerry and Lydia Sanchez; brother-in-law Tony Sanchez; nephew Jerome Sanchez Jr.; aunt Rose Martinez and sister-in-law Rose Gonzalez and many aunts and uncles and cousins. 

She is survived by her grandson/adopted son Arthur Valencia of Velarde; her mother Isabel Torres of Santa Cruz; Goddaughter Virginia Sanchez of Velarde; brother-in-law Jerome Sanchez (Valerie) of Velarde; Cheryl Sanchez of Velarde, Goddaughter Hope Ruiz (Albuquerque) Niece Dorothy Rodriguez of Tucson, AZ, many Nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dolores had taken a big responsibility by taking in her only grandson Arthur, making sure he had everything he needed growing up, and becoming a mother all over again. Peter and Dolores adopted Arthur later in life. Lolly was also dedicated to taking her daughter Alicia to her dialysis and making friends with all the techs and nurses there. She was proud of little Peter when he got his Welding Certificate and making many things that Dolores kept and showed off in her home. 

The family would like to say a "special thanks" to Valerie Sanchez for always sending her food and taking care of her when Arthur was out of town, a very "special thank you" to Ramona Romero for all the physical therapy in and out of the Hospital for helping Dolores heal from her many Knee replacements. Also, a "special thank you" to Fr. Terry Brennan for helping keep the faith in last years for all the loss she had experienced. 

A Public Visitation will begin on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at 5:00 pm in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home, with a Rosary to follow at 6:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will held on Friday, February 07, 2025, at 10:30 am at San Juan Bautista Catholic Church in San Juan Pueblo with burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. 

Serving as Pallbearers will be Arthur Valencia, Gina Sanchez, Daniel Cordova, Lynn Nelson, Hope Ruiz and Ramona Romero. 

Honorary Pallbearer will be Isabell Torres.
