Dolores - Age 54 - Española/Chimayo Martinez

DOLORES MARTINEZ, 54, a resident of Española and Chimayo, passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2012. She was preceded in death by her mother, Epifania Martinez and son, Manuel Gutierrez. Dolores loved to cook and made the best tortillas. She enjoyed sitting on her porch swing and going to dances. She was the peacemaker for the family and made sure to text all her family on a regular basis sending her love to everyone and brightening their day. Ms. Martinez is survived by her father, Ernesto Martinez and wife Mary of Española; daughters, Donna and Victoria Martinez; granddaughters, Daejah and Davionna Hasslacher all of Española; brothers, Gary Martinez and companion Denise and Ernesto Martinez, Jr. and wife Shirley; sisters, Frances Martinez and companion Arthur, Debbie Castro and husband Edmundo, Theresa Cole and husband Robert, Sharon Marquez and husband Donald and Karen Carrillo and husband Chris; God-daughter, Crystal Ellison; close friends, Yvonne Serrano and Eileen Ulibarri and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Cremation is being planned. A wake will be held on Friday, April 13, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo. Burial to follow at the Nuestra Señora de Dolores Catholic Cemetery in Chimayo. The family of Dolores Martinez has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
