Derek C. - Age 12 & Devin C. - Age 10 - E Martinez

DEREK C. MARTINEZ, 12 & DEVIN C. MARTINEZ, 10, residents of Española, passed away on Monday, June 21, 2010. They were preceded in death by their maternal grandfather, Levi Salazar; great-grandparents, Antonio and Eliza Rivera and Ruben and Ruth Salazar and their father, Melvin Martinez. Derek was on summer break from Carlos Vigil Middle School where he would have been in the 8th grade. Devin was also on summer break from Sombrillo Elementary where he would have been in 5th grade. Derek and Devin are survived by their mother, Paula Martinez and companion Matthew Paña of Española; maternal grandmother, Sylvia Salazar of Los Luceros; paternal grandparents, Gilbert and Dilia Martinez of Cuarteles; aunts and uncles, Harry and Harold Salazar both of Velarde, aunt and God-mother, Lori Ortiz of Rio Rancho, Rodney Martinez and wife Michelle of La Puebla, Tim Martinez and wife Jennifer of La Puebla, Dominic Martinez and wife Stephanie of Cuarteles, Matthew Martinez and wife Tina of Cuarteles and many dear cousins and relatives and friends. A devotional service will be held on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 24, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Calvary Chapel in Arroyo Seco. Burial to follow at the Velarde Catholic Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Jason Salazar, Bryan Salazar, Robby Ortiz, Christopher Ortiz, Breanna Salazar, Andrea Salazar, Pat Archuleta Jr. and Adrean Salazar. The Martinez family has entrusted their loved ones to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.\r\n
