Delmiria S. Age - 90 - Truchas Montoya

Delmiria S. Montoya – 90, a resident of Truchas peacefully joined our Lord in Heaven on Saturday, October 1, 2011. She was born on September 18, 1921 in Truchas to Dionicio and Ursulita Sandoval. She attended school in Santa Fe and Española. Delmiria was united in marriage to Nabor Montoya from Truchas on January 24, 1942 in Santa Cruz, NM. Later moving to California to work in the shipyards as a welder during World War II. Delmiria and Nabor then returned to Truchas to raise their family, where she was a member of the Sociedad de la Sagrada Familia, as well as a member of La Morada in Truchas. She was a devout Catholic and loved her faith & teaching it to her family. She had a passion for gardening and was an excellent cook. She loved to make quilts, can food for her family, and was a proud republican. Delmiria was preceded in death by her parents, Dionicio and Ursulita Sandoval; husband, Nabor; daughter, Viola Barela; grandson, Adam Montoya; great-grandson, Derrick Montoya; brothers: Jose, Benito, Valentin, and Eulalio Sandoval. Mrs. Montoya is survived by her children: Floraida Martinez and husband Harold of Chimayo, Esther Montoya of Albuquerque, Richard Montoya of Truchas, Elizardo Montoya and wife Martina of Truchas; son-in-law, Darrell Barela of Albuquerque; grandchildren: Andrea Medina (Charles), Ted Martinez (Evelyn), Roberta Rivera (James), Eric Montoya (Delubina), Gary Montoya (Lisa), Angela Montoya (James), Lisa Montoya (Steve), Karen Montoya, Jennifer Montoya (Phillip), Kimberly Montoya, Antionette Lopez (Eric), and Roxanne Barela (Benny), 29 great-grandchildren; 2 unborn great- grandchildren; brother-in-law, Nestor Montoya (Cristina) from Albuquerque and sisters-in-law: Jenny Montoya and Floy Fuentes from Truchas. Public visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Truchas with burial to follow at Los Llanitos Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Ted Martinez, Gary Montoya, Eric Montoya, Nathan Montoya, Angelo Medina, and Dion Montoya; honorary pallbearers: Antionette Lopez, Roxanne Barela, Roberta Rivera and Lisa Montoya.
