Delano Valdez (D Valdez), 66, beloved son, brother, daddy, uncle, and friend born and raised in Alcalde, NM was called home to Heaven on Friday, December 22, 2017 following a lengthy illness. Delano was preceded in death by his father, Juan M. Valdez. Delano was a kind, loving, generous man to all that knew him. His love for horse racing and being in a crowd supporting his family and friends was something that came naturally to this gentle soul. Delano is survived by his dear and loving mother, Adelia D. Valdez; son, Ray Valdez (Cha-Chi); daughter, Felicia Martinez (pumpkin) and fiancé Harold Quintana; Marvin Valdez and wife Patsy and Norman Valdez and wife Pauline; two loving grandchildren, Ray Valdez Jr. and Joshua Martinez; His loving sisters and brother, Mabel Valdez, Cloudina Salazar, Lydia Atencio, and Richard Valdez. Delano will also be forever remembered and dearly missed by his numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends who loved him unconditionally. Public visitation will begin on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh. The family of Delano Valdez has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley. 505-747-7477
