David - Age 66 - Alcalde Garcia

David Garcia – Age 66 a resident of Alcalde, NM passed away on Thursday, September 20, 2012 following injuries sustained in an automobile accident. \r\nDavid was born in Clayton, NM to Joe & Virginia Garcia of Española, NM. He was an Army veteran, a husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, beloved friend, and a humble man with a passion for alternative medicine. He adored The Beatles, Firebird cars, gardening, and reading. He used reflexology and his therapeutic hands to provide wellness for many people in the community, especially the elderly. He was an electrician by trade and often helped anyone in need with his handy man skills. He simply had a way of making everything flourish with his wonderful touch. David left this life while taking his beloved Pontiac Firebird for a ride. \r\nDavid spent time in Korea in the U.S. Army as an Infantry Mortar Man, then relocated to Las Vegas, NV and eventually settled down with his wife Ymelda in Alcalde, NM.\r\n David was preceded in death by his newborn son, David Paul Garcia; father, Joe A. Garcia; sister, Patricia Piña; and brothers: Paul and Richard Garcia. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Ymelda Garcia; son, SSG David J. Garcia and wife Maria of NC; daughter Julianne Ingram and husband Daryl of Albuquerque; daughter, Sherina Diaz and partner Augustine Chavez of Rio Rancho; and son-in-law, Donald Diaz of Alcalde. He is also survived by grandchildren: Erick, Sydney, Allison, Rebekah, Christopher, Jadeyn, Isyss, Catalina, and Tatum; Mother, Virginia; sisters: Irene Garcia and Rebecca Floyd and husband Jim; brothers: Ezekiel Garcia and wife Theresa and Julian Garcia; and brothers-in-law: Feliciano Piña of Las Vegas, Nevada, Billy Martinez of Española, Max Martinez and partner Bob Beardsley of Santa Fe and Joseph Eluid Martinez and wife Connie of Fairview; special friend, Leticia Martinez; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends whom he dearly loved.\r\n David’s family wishes to express it’s sincerest appreciation for all who have been supportive through this difficult time. Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory.
