Daron - Age 17 - Española/Ohkay Owingeh Garcia

DARON JOE GARCIA, 17, a resident of Española/Ohkay Owingeh, passed away following a lifelong illness and rare condition on Monday, October 27, 2014. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Joe Duran; maternal great-grandmothers, Marie Quintana and Della Esparza; paternal grandfather, Peter Garcia, Sr.; cousin, Jared Garcia; uncles, Gordon Garcia and Darron Nastacio and God-father, Paul Gabaldon. Daron Joe had a heart of gold that he shared with everyone. No matter how much pain he was in, Daron always had a smile on his face. He was a real people person who loved everyone and made them smile. Daron Joe was everyone’s sunshine and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Daron Joe is survived by his mother, Denise Quintana Caro and companion Jason Trujillo; father, Butterfly Garcia; brother, Jose Caro; sister, Arianna Caro; maternal grandmother, Judy Duran; maternal aunts and uncles, Ruby Garcia (Hilario Baca), Stephanie and Allen Armijo, Josephine Salazar (Jesse Lucero), Joseph and Justine Salazar, James and Charlene Esparza, Roy and Linda Esparza, Alice and Clifton Baker, Ed Esparza (Ruby), Dennis Garcia, Geraldine Lopez (Paul Herrera), Angie Ulibarri, Jr. Duran; God-parents, Louella Ulibarri (Archie Garcia) and Pat Ulibarri; paternal grandparents, Reyann Nastacio and companion Edgar Cata and Elmer Ray Garcia; paternal great-grandparents, Andy and Verna Garcia and Reyecita Garcia; paternal aunts and uncles, Curt and Valerie Garcia, Darron and Rosie Garcia, George and Dorea; aunt and God-mother, Tara Gabaldon and numerous other relatives and friends. A wake service will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at his God-mothers residence 119 Drum Place in Ohkay Owingeh with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh. Burial to follow at the Ohkay Owingeh Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Jose Caro, Jason Trujillo, Curt Garcia, Darron Garcia, Pat Ulibarri and Allen Armijo. Honorary pallbearers named are, Jesse Lucero, Arlo Namingha, Kevin Abeyta, Adrian Martinez, Gaylon Westika, Jireh, Javen and Johnathon Martinez and Isiah Romero. The family of Daron Joe Garcia has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley.
