Daniel Reyes - Age 42 - El Rancho Gomez

Daniel Reyes Gomez - Age 42, succumbed to a short illness on November 17, 2012 at St. Vincent’s hospital, Santa Fe NM, surrounded by his family and friends. He was born June 8, 1970 and was a lifelong resident of El Rancho, NM. He was the middle child of Bennie Gomez and Veronica (Sandoval) Gomez. Danny was a wonderful and devoted husband; father, brother, nephew, cousin and friend to all. Daniel, a Pojoaque High School graduate, will probably be remembered most for his work with kids coaching soccer, T-ball and baseball; he was devoted to promoting sports to the valley youth. He loved the LA Dodgers and even named his little league teams after them. He was an employee of Los Alamos National Laboratory.\r\nDanny was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Manuel and Rosina Gomez; maternal grandparents: Vicente and Rose Sandoval; his uncle, Jerry Garcia; cousin, Anhel Garcia; and father-in-law, Steve Lujan.\r\nDanny is survived by his loving wife and high school sweetheart, Carmelita; his two children: Isabella and Antonio; his niece who they raised as a daughter, Alyssa Lujan; parents: Bennie and Veronica Gomez; brother, Benito Gomez; sister, Monica Alejo and husband Pedro, mother-in-law, Nona Lujan; sister-in-law, Dolores Lujan-Ortega and husband Ed; brother-in-law, Marty Lujan and wife Britni and daughter Averie; Goddaughters Gabriella Sandoval and Hope Lujan; and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and other relatives and friends.\r\nPublic visitation will be held on Sunday, November 18, 2012 from 4:00p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe del Valle de Pojoaque Catholic Church with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Monday, November 19, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Nuestra Senora De Guadalupe del Valle de Pojoaque Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the El Rancho Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Salvador Sandoval, Mark Lujan, Bobby Quintana, Henry Gallegos, James Alarid and Russell Baum. Serving as honorary pallbearers are: Reyna Sandoval, Maya Sandoval, Josh Baum, Shawn Ewy, Ed Ortega, Daniel Torres, Marty Lujan and all the children he coached over the years. \r\nThe family has requested that everyone in attendance wear LA Dodger paraphernalia or Dodger blue.\r\nIn lieu of flowers a fund has been created to assist Danny's family with medical and burial costs at the Los Alamos National Bank.
