Daniel Lee Gonzales – Age 26, a resident of Española passed away on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 due to an unexpected illness. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Joe O. Gonzales. Daniel was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corp. having served in the Middle East & Hawaii with The First Marine Amphibious Assault Division. He loved the outdoors, camping, fishing and hiking. Daniel is survived by his mother, Maria Espinoza Gonzales of El Llano; father, Joe R. Gonzales and wife Eva of La Puebla; brothers: Joseph Richard Gonzales Jr. and wife Roxanne of Española, David Gonzales and companion Andrea Romero and Dominic Gonzales of the family home in El Llano; maternal grandparents: Frances Espinoza of Fairview and Lee Espinoza of El Llano; paternal mother, Vangie Gonzales of Santa Fe; nephews and nieces: Destiny, Davina and Adam Gonzales all of Española; numerous uncles/aunts, cousins and many friends. In lieu of flowers Daniel’s preference was that memorial contributions be made to Smile Train, an organization that provides cleft lip and palate repair surgery to under privileged children or to Blue Star Mothers’s of America a service organization that provides care packages for our service men and women stationed over seas and support to their families back home. Public visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday Dec. 8th at El Buen Pastor Church with a Devotional Service to be held at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday Dec. 9th also at El Buen Pastor Church in Ranchitos. Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with full military honors.
