Daniel I. Age - 91 El Rito Martinez

Daniel I. Martinez – Age 91, a resident of El Rito passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2011. He was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church. Veteran of the United States Air Corp of WWII, he retired from the U.S. Forest Service with 30 years. Daniel enjoyed hunting, fishing the outdoors, Bingo & enjoyed working with the chain saw. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Adelina Martinez; infant son, Robert Martinez; sister, Lucia Sisneros and husband Melaquis; nephew, Donald Sisneros. Daniel is survived by his wife of 50 years, Vicenta Martinez of El Rito; children: Marvin Martinez of Espanola, Cecilia Martinez of Santa Fe, Robert Martinez, Elisiada Holterman and husband Daniel, all of El Rito, Ricardo Martinez of Rio Chama; grandchildren: Patrick Holterman and Lawrence Holterman of El Rito, AnnRica Martinez of Rio Chama, Tessa Martinez of Española; sister-in-law, Eduvigen Martinez of Canjilon; cousin, Margarita Leyba of Española; close family friend, Bernadette Diaz of La Puebla; nephews, Gilbert Sisneros of Colorado Springs, CO, Rudy Sisneros of Grand Junction, CO; niece, Betty Chamberlin of Grand Junction, CO. Public visitation will be held on Friday, February 11, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. at San Juan Nepomuceno Catholic Church in El Rito with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at San Juan Nepomuceno Church in El Rito with internment to follow at El Rito Catholic Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Marvin Martinez, Robert Martinez, Ricardo Martinez, Patrick Holterman, Dan Holterman, Jake Martinez. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be: Patrick Holterman, Lawrence Holterman, AnnRica Martinez and Tessa Martinez.
