Daniel Stephen Martinez, a resident of Alcalde, NM, went to be with Our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 29, 2016. Daniel was preceded in death by his father, Leroy Martinez; mother Eloisa Martinez; paternal grandfather Eliseo Martinez; paternal grandmother Martha Martinez; maternal grandfather, Senon Martinez; maternal grandmother, Donna Martinez; paternal uncles Ralph and Wilfred Martinez; maternal aunt Bettie Cordova (Martinez). A loving brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend, Daniel was a 2002 graduate of McCurdy High school and was the class salutatorian. He went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree in 2007 in Business Administration with a focus on Accounting and Finance from The University of New Mexico. Daniel began a career with Guadalupe Credit Union in 2009. In addition to receiving various promotions, Daniel made many friends and spoke highly of his Guadalupe family. Daniel was a season ticket holder for the NM Lobos, both football and basketball. He enjoyed his annual trips to Las Vegas, NV for the tournaments. Daniel was a passionate Lobo fan and was not ashamed to represent his team with costumes, face paint and wigs. Daniel is survived by his brother, Patrick Martinez, sister, Desiree Martinez; nephews Leroy, Brandon and Dominick Martinez; uncle Frankie Martinez (Lorenza); aunts Ruth Garcia (Ismael); Minnie Miera; Annabel Valdez (Archie); Myrna Romero (Larry); Eleanor Chacon (Horacio); a great aunt who helped raise him, Tina Garcia; and many other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at Victory Faith Church in Espanola at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service is on Monday, April, 4, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. also at Victory Faith Church with burial to follow at Loma Vista Cemetery in Alcalde, NM. Serving the family as pallbearers are Leroy, Brandon and Dominick Martinez, Kenny Pacheco, Chris Valdez and Pancho Miera. Honorary pallbearers are the entire management staff and co-workers of the Guadalupe Credit Union.
