Daniel Ray Quintana died unexpectedly and peacefully at home on November 1, 2024. " Big D" as he was affectionately known was born on March 27, 1980, in Tierra Amarilla, NM, to Mickie Quintana. He graduated from Escalante High School in 1998 and attended NNMC.
His passion was video gaming and the Dallas cowboys. He made many long-time friends through video gaming. As disappointed as he was with his Dallas Cowboys he never gave up on them. He had recently commented " in my lifetime I have never seen the cowboys win a super bowl".
While growing up in Chama, New Mexico, he enjoyed going fishing with family and friends and riding the bumpity bumps. At the age of 20 he moved to Albuquerque and made that his home he moved to Espanola in 2023 and lived with his " madre ". He was good company for her. It was during that time they both needed each other.
He was preceded in death by his "Pops" Max Quintana, brother Peter Quintana, grandparents Eduardo and Mela Quintana and Pete and Julia Quintana, close cousins Billy Brusuelas and David Quintana, niece Candace Quintana, uncle's Johnny and Santiago Quintana, Julian, Roland, Tim, Gene and Bobby Quintana.
Those left to cherish his memory include his "Madre" Mickie Quintana, sisters Andrea Quintana (Dion), Monica Garcia, brother Max Quintana, nephews he adored and loved immensely Antonio Quintana, Devin and Deegan Lucero, his aunt and second mom Cleo Beasley, Uncle Eddie and Margaret Quintana and Uncle Frank and Cathy Quintana. He is also survived by his Aunt Julia Martinez, Dolores Martinez, Irene Martinez, Cristella Maestas (Leland), Patsy Murray and Patricia Quintana, Uncle Joseph and Rosella Quintana. Also surviving Daniel our numerous cherished nieces, nephews, cousins and his Presbyterian family.
Daniel was greatly loved and will be missed so very much. Through our faith we know that one day we will be reunited with him.
" We love you Daniel, Vaya con Dios mi hijo ".
There will be no public viewing.

Wake Service at DeVargas Funeral Home on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. Memorial Mass at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Santa Cruz, New Mexico, on Friday November 15, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Yvette Segura, Patrick Hernandez, Antoine Fowler, Reynaldo Rivas, BJ Samora, Diego Brusuelas, Devin and Deegan Lucero.
"Don't grieve for me for now I am free.
I took his hand when I heard him call.
I turned my back and left it all.
If my parting has left a void then feel it with remembered joy".
