DANIEL “DANNY” MARTINEZ, 75, a resident of Velarde, passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2016, following an extended illness. Danny was born to parents Juan Martinez and Josephina Romero de Martinez on December 1, 1940 in Leadville Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Josephina Martinez; brothers and sisters, John E. Martinez Jr., Mela Lujan and husband Steven, Ernest R. Martinez, Flora, and Margarito Maes; infant brother, Josesito Martinez. The greatest joy in his life was when his nieces and nephews went to visit him. The family would like to thank the Santa Fe Care Center and Mi Casa Bonita and Santa Fe for taking very good care of him, along with his brother Joe who took care of him and was with him until the end. Special thanks to the ladies from Santa Maria de la Paz from Santa Fe. Danny will remain in our hearts forever. In loving memory from your brother and sisters. Daniel is survived by his brother, Joe Martinez, sisters, Mary Ramirez and husband Humberto, and Loyda M. Salazar; sisters-in-law, Tila Martinez and Joyce Martinez and many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Public visitation will begin on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be held at the Rosario Cemetery in Santa Fe.
