DANIEL E. OLIVAS, 49, a resident of Ranchitos passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 7, 2012. Daniel was born to the late Frances Olivas and Sirenio “Joe” Olivas on August 22, 1963 in Española. Daniel was preceded in death by his loving mother, Frances Olivas and loving father, Sirenio “Joe” Olivas; sisters, Francis “Pancha” Padilla, Guadalupe Hosek and Mary Olivas; brothers, John Tso Olivas, Steven Olivas, Sotero Olivas and Raymond Olivas. Daniel was a very loving and giving man, who loved his children and family very much. Daniel proudly served his country in the United States Army and National Guard where he was a decorated soldier. Daniel excelled as a Special Forces - Air Bourne Ranger, Rifle M16 Marksman, Roland Systems Crewmen and Stinger Crewmen and received several metals of accommodation. Mr. Olivas is survived by his children, Angela Olivas of El Paso, Texas, Gabriela Olivas of Alcalde, Daniela Olivas of Española, and Danny Olivas Jr. of Española; special partner, Terry Atencio of San Juan Pueblo; sisters, Gloria Madrid and husband Louie of Albuquerque, Susie Baca of Albuquerque; brothers, Manuel Olivas and wife Dolores of Santa Fe, Joe Olivas of Ranchitos, and Michael Olivas of Ranchitos; nephews raised as brothers, Oliver A. Torres and wife Heather of San Juan Pueblo, Jude Torres and wife Denice of Santa Fe, Gene Padilla Jr. and wife Roanna of Tijeras, and many more nephews, nieces and friends. A rosary will be recited on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh. Burial to follow at the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Jude Torres, Oliver A. Torres, Manuel Olivas, Michael Olivas, Jacob Viarrial, and Gerald Viarrial. Honorary pallbearers named are; Joe Olivas and Gene Padilla Jr. The family of Daniel E. Olivas has entrusted the care of their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
