Daniel - Age 47 - Chimayo - Martinez

DANIEL T. MARTINEZ, 47, a resident of Chimayo, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2014 following a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dennis J. Martinez; paternal grandparents, Plajares and Onofre Martinez; and maternal grandparents, Antonio Quintana and Marcela Martinez. Daniel enjoyed fixing and restoring cars and enjoyed attending car shows and bike rally’s to support his family and friends. He participated in the Mud Boggs and won second place. In his spare time he enjoyed camping and off roading. He was a very kind man that was willing to help and never turned his back on anyone. Mr. Martinez is survived by his parents, Jose and Estolia Martinez of Chimayo; daughter, Jennifer Martinez; mother of his daughter, Nadine Martinez both of Medanales; sister, Melissa Martinez and fiancé Marcos of Chimayo; brother, Louis Martinez and wife Sadie of Rio Chama; nephews, Louis Martinez, Jr. and companion Nicole Padilla of Rio Chama, Dennis Martinez, Jr. of Las Vegas, Nevada and Kenny Martinez of Peñasco; nieces, Jessica Unzueta and husband Marcus of Ojo Caliente and Megan Martinez of Wisconsin and numerous other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo. Burial to follow at the Nuestra Señora de Dolores Catholic Cemetery in Chimayo with the following serving as pallbearers, Louis Martinez, Jr. Kenny Martinez, Kevin Martinez, Jerry Vigil, Tony DeAguero and Dennis Martinez, Jr. Honorary pallbearers named: Jerry Trujillo, Marcos Martinez, Marcus Unzueta, Elifar DeAguero, Jr., Randy Quintana and Gilbert Montoya. The family of Daniel T. Martinez has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
